What's Forest Certification?

It's a labeling system which certifies 1) well managed forests. 2) a processing of the woods cut from those forests, and 3) its logistics process.
It makes it possible for consumers to select and purchase wooden resources which are "environmentally cared".

Why we need forest certification?

In order to protect healthy forests, we need to cut the trees appropriately. Especially in Japan, there are lots of artificial forests. Thus, using the certified wooden resources for building houses, etc, is important in order to protect Japan forests as well as protecting environment in the global perspective.

What are different kinds of forest certification ?

Let us introduce two representative certification programs.
FSC (Forest Stewardship Council)
Started mainly from WWF in 1993.
PEFC (Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification Schemes)
European nations have developed a system to mutual recognition the forest certification in 1999.

How is forest certification operated?

1.Certification of the forest management (FM certified). It certifies the appropriate management of a forest. It certifies and approves that a forest management 1) is appropriate from the environmental point of view, and 2) meets social benefit, and 3) is also economically viable.

2.It certifies lumber or wooden materials produced from FM certified forest. It is a certification which needs to be taken by all companies which operate for processing, production, and transportation of the certified wooden materials. Woods which is taken out from the certified forests also needs to be maintained under processing, production, and transporting steps, so that they do not mix up with other woods. The certification is needed in order to protect from mixing up with all other wooden resources.

CoC certification

It inspects that a wooden material which are taken out from the certified forests are properly managed under processing and transporting steps so that they are not mixed up with other non-certified woods. Basically, all the companies who deal with processing, production and transportation of these certified woods need to get the certificate, and this is called Chain of Custody, as it resembles a chain to the very end of the process.

The process of Forest Certified products

It is required that all processes under production and transportation of certified woods are
approved under CoC certification in order to label the product with a logo mark.

A Contribution to a sustainable society

As companies serve our social responsibility, we are all required to source materials with responsibility in terms of social, environmental, and economical manner.

This system supports appropriate forest management.

It allows you to present yourself of being environmentally considerate and live corporate social responsibility.

These papers are different from the recycled papers, and thus are high in quality.
Also, these papers are economically equal to other types of papers.

FSC and PEFC logos are globally common and highly trusted around the world. Also, it does not involve any usage fees.

We can create both 2 dimensional and 3 dimensional structures using combination of collected recycled paper and forest certified paper.
This is a unique system by TANA-X.
